1This may well be the worst Western ever made
    By Old Man
I have watched hundreds of Western movies in my life. This may well be the worst Western ever made. It it were possible to give it a minus star I would do so. The plot was awful, the acting atrocious, the costumes were ridiculous; it was just bad. Bad to the bone. Whoever produced and directed this monstrosity should be barred from the movie industry. I would write worse things if I could think of any to say. I would have just stopped watching, but I was fascinated by how bad it was, much as a bird is fascinated by a snake. Oh, the scenery was wonderful. Really pretty location for a movie. Too bad somebody else didn't write, produce, and direct a real movie instead of this horror show.

    4A film worth watching.
    By Bill in KC
I was completely surprised when I started watching this movie. The main character was so deeply flawed and consumed with hatred for the Union that his actions were acceptable (to him) Mickey Rourke was excellent in this role. The other characters were well fleshed out and the scenes were superbly set with great locations to shoot from. The story was not predicatable and the entire thing wrapped up at the end. In some ways this was a 1950's "oater" but with a great deal of updating. I started watching this to kill a bit of time but fell into the story rather quickly.

    Well Done!

5Western Lovers, this one's for you
    By USS Morgen
Really, really good. Other reviewers give you the jist of the story so I will simply give you my opinion. The story line is one of the best I've watched.

Now, we know that there were very few toothbrushes in the Old West. So when I watched two of the actors (who are excellent at their trade), I paid attention. Ted Levine (from Monk) was a scruffy, bearded, dirty old bandit. His teeth were stained (when you could see them through the beard/mustache), one possibly broken. Steve Buscemi, whose teeth are naturally crooked also stained his teeth for the part. They were the two true old west outlaws. The rest were good but their teeth were much too white to have been out in the desert for weeks.
