1A Waste of Money and 96 Minutes of My Life
    By D. Tester
I am a long-time movie fan and have a particular interest in Native American films. My only proviso as a consumer is that a worthwhile product is marketed.

Having been a film lover and collector for the past 50 years doesn't make me an expert, but it has given me an eye for good movies and especially good acting. Turquoise fails in these areas not only on an indie level but on any level one would care to discuss. I know this sounds harsh, but everything about this production screams amateur. I have honestly seen high school plays with more merit. The best thing about this film is the DVD cover.

There is a market for good Native American art in every category, but like all commercially successful art -- it must be worth the time and money of the investor. I wasted my money on this DVD. And what makes me really angry, aside from the cash and time I will never get back, is the fact that other customers who may be unfamiliar with the far superior Native American films available out there could possibly buy this DVD thinking it is representative -- and perhaps never spend another dime on the genre again when they realize they have been had.

And as far as the wreath-enclosed endorsements on the DVD cover are concerned (which were also a selling point) - I can only speculate that bribes or drugs were involved.

My advice to GiGi Mullins: Don't give up. . .but next time, find a screenwriter with some talent and actors who can actually act. Allow objective, honest reviews to be posted about the film instead of asking your friends and relatives to write wildly bogus recommendations. Otherwise, you are doing no service to the Native American film-making industry, indies, the western genre, or the cause of women directors in general.

Keep the DVD cover artist, though.

    Wapi washte.
