Product Description
This show was filmed for the famous German TV series Rockpalast at MIDEM in Cannes on January 29th, 1986. Pete Townshend's Deep End were touring in support of Townshend's solo concept album White City: A Novel. Several of the musicians that appeared on the album were featured in the line-up of the Deep End including Pink Floyd's David Gilmour on lead guitar. The set list has tracks from the White City album, other Pete Townshend solo tracks, Who classics, David Gilmour's song Blue Light and a couple of surprises. Pete Townshend and the band deliver an outstanding performance that showcases him as a solo artist as distinct from his work with The Who.

    2Not What I Hoped For
    By R. Herbert
I've been waiting for this release for at least 20 years, remembering how great the old Deep End Live VHS was. This ain't it folks. Some of the same tunes, but missing many favorites. The VHS was a great production capturing energy and emotion - this feels thrown together with minimal care. Sound isn't awful, but it isn't great either - somewhat harsh and edgy. Will we ever see that original, produced and re-released with the care it deserves? I'm beginning to doubt it.

The sound quality was lacking but it is concert footage from long ago - just to see Pete play made me happy

Of all the concert videos in my library this is one of the worst. I have a high end home theatre system and the sound quality is poor and the video is amateurish, I think Cosmo Kramer filmed it. Looks like a badly filmed hand held VHS to DVD conversion. David Gilmore looks like he'd rather be somewhere else. I would not recommend this video
